Here at Oakland Vision Center we like being resourceful by reusing things, repurposing stuff and redistributing items that we no longer need or want but know that someone else certainly would. On the more boring side we collect packing materials from the many packages we receive daily and reuse the incoming boxes as much as possible as well as hand deliver the packing materials to local delivery services (secretly, we love doing this).
On the more exciting side we redistribute random items to the East Bay Depot for Creative Reuse which sells reused items at low cost making them easily available to teachers and artists, and lastly we donate glasses patients have given us to the Lions Center for the Blind which is just 2 blocks away from our office.
Being that we love redistributing stuff, we encourage you to dig through your closet and bring to light the things that are collecting dust. If you have old glasses at home that you or your family haven’t worn in years you could consider a few options:
1. Rock your old glasses with an updated prescription
2. Rock someone else’s old glasses (of course with your prescription)
3. Donate them to Lions Center for the blind
As they say, out with the old and in with the new or perhaps in with the old too if it suits you. If you feel like taking a field trip to the Lions Center for the Blind or East Bay Depot for Creative Reuse their business info is below.
